Living Here

Located across the channel from Amelia Island, Camden County provides lots of coastal recreation via St. Mary’s, Cumberland Island and the Golden Isles, Georgia’s beautiful barrier islands: St. Simons Island, Sea Island, Little St. Simons Island and Jekyll Island. Even with easy access to desirable coastal attractions, the price of a 4 bedroom/2 bath home here is, on average, $100,000 less than a comparable residence in Nassau County, Florida.

Camden County also boasts excellent schools, the best outside Metro Atlanta. In fact, Camden County schools ranked 4th out of 186 school districts in Georgia, with Camden County High ranked among the top 1% in the state, a school the Washington Post called “One of America’s Most Challenging High Schools”.

With such auspicious beginnings in education, it’s no surprise that 60% of local students continue their education at college. Many take advantage of Georgia’s unique HOPE Scholarship program to attend Georgia Tech or another of the 31 University of Georgia colleges, as well as Emory and other private colleges in Georgia.

The area also boasts exceptional healthcare. Southeastern Hospital in Camden County was voted GA Small Hospital of the Year in 2013 and world-renowned Mayo Clinic is nearby in Jacksonville. With high-caliber schools, services and natural beauty, Camden County is a great place to call home, and for a reasonable cost.
