Workforce and Higher Education in Camden County, Georgia

Camden County is a community focused on education, with strong links to the military. In fact, with seven military bases in Georgia and the Naval Air Station in Jacksonville, FL, the region leads the nation in the number of military officers and senior enlisted staff transitioning to the civilian job market. The Naval Submarine Base at Kings Bay—the only naval base in Georgia—alone delivers 550 nuclear submarine officers and technical staff to the civilian workforce every year, most of whom prefer to stay in Camden County.

QuickStart Employee TrainingWorkforce Development Georgia

QuickStart is Georgia’s nationally ranked employee training program. QuickStart, provides customized training for new employees in skill-based jobs at no cost to qualifying companies. This training is based on a thorough evaluation of business/industry needs. This training program is given to the company for the company to use in its future operations. The provision of training space, instructors, and all materials required for training purposes provides countless savings in training costs to the company.

Coastal Pines Technical College

Coastal Pines Technical College provides technical training through a Camden Campus in Kingsland. Coastal Pines is able to provide specialized job training programs to support business/industry employee and workforce training needs. Camden County School System

Students in Camden County take advantage of one of the top school systems in the state. Camden County students are provided with some of the best Advanced Placement courses, dual-enrollment opportunities, and CTAE training in the country. Graduates of Camden County High School are ready to join the workforce and tackle all of the challenges of new and existing industries.

Hiring Assistance

The St. Mary’s office of the Georgia Department of Labor, in coordination with regional DoL partners, is available to assist with general and specialized hiring assistance. This includes posting job notices, collecting and screening applications and/or resumes. Provides interview space, schedules interviews and hosts job fairs. The Department of Labor can work in concert with NSB Kings Bay Fleet and Family Support Services to broaden hiring service outreach to include transitioning military and spouses. Coastal Workforce Investment Board

The Coastal Workforce Investment Board (CWIB) provides employment training services including but not limited to, on-the-job training assistance through the Workforce Investment and Opportunities Act (WIOA). Camden County is served by the Coastal Workforce Investment Board with a local office in Kingsland, Georgia. Camden County Joint Development Authority will work with company representatives and the CWIB staff to determine specific opportunities for workforce/employment training needs.
